Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This policy covers the ABCcount Teams browser extension and the abccount-teams.com website. It describes, plainly, what data we collect, why, and who we share it with.
In plain terms
For the text you submit, we act as nothing more than a conduit — it passes through our systems to generate your result and is never kept, sold, or used for advertising, model training, or any purpose beyond returning that one result to you.
What the extension actually does
ABCcount Teams is a writing tool with two ways of working. The primary way: when you highlight text on a webpage and choose an action — Formal, Legal, Summarize, Plagiarism & AI check, or any other mode — that selected text is sent to our servers to be processed, and the result is shown back to you. Separately, an opt-in inline suggestions feature (off by default) can show a small badge in text fields with grammar suggestions as you type. Outside of that specific opt-in feature, the extension does not run in the background, does not monitor your browsing, and does not act on anything you haven't explicitly selected, requested, or opted into.
What we collect, and why
- Text you select and submit. Sent to our servers only when you actively choose a mode. Used solely to generate the result you asked for. Not stored after the request completes, not used to train any model, and not read from the page automatically as part of this feature — only the text you deliberately highlight.
- Inline suggestions while typing — opt-in, off by default. If you turn this on in the extension's popup, a small badge appears in text fields you focus, and the text you type there is sent to our servers to generate grammar suggestions as you go. This is separate from the selection-based flow above, and nothing is read from any field until you explicitly turn this on. You can turn it off again at any time, and any badge currently showing disappears immediately.
- Nearby page context (Context Hook) — opt-in, off by default. If you turn this on in the extension's settings, a limited amount of surrounding page text is read to help Auto mode pick a more accurate tone. Used only for that classification step, never included in the actual rewritten output, and nothing is read from any page until you explicitly turn this on.
- Your account session. When you sign in at abccount-teams.com, a session token is synced to the extension so it can recognize you're signed in — the same way any website keeps you logged in. Used only for authenticating requests to our own servers.
- Account and billing information. Your email, workspace membership, and subscription status, collected when you sign up or subscribe. Used to provide the service and manage billing.
Who we share data with
- AI processing providers (Anthropic, and Groq for faster everyday rewrites) — receive the text you submit, solely to generate the requested output.
- Copyleaks — if you use the Plagiarism & AI Detection feature specifically, your selected text is sent to Copyleaks to perform that check. Used for no other feature.
- Stripe — processes payment information directly; we never see or store your full card details.
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (like account confirmations) on our behalf.
We do not sell any data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data retention
Text you submit for processing is not retained once your result is returned — this is enforced in-memory, not just a policy statement. Account records (email, workspace, subscription status, and usage totals needed for billing) are retained for as long as your account is active.
