ABCcount
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2, 2026
This policy reflects our actual data practices as of the date above. It isn't a substitute for legal advice specific to your situation — if you have questions about how a specific law applies to you, consult a lawyer.
This policy covers the ABCcount browser extension and the abccount.com website. It describes, plainly, what data we collect, why, and who we share it with. See also our Terms of Service, End User License Agreement, and Acceptable Use Policy at abccount.com/terms.
In plain terms
For the text you submit to any of our AI tools, we act as nothing more than a conduit — it passes through our systems to generate your result and is never sold or used for advertising. We do not sell your data to anyone.
What the extension actually does
The ABCcount extension works two ways. You can right-click selected text on any webpage, or paste text into the toolbar popup, to run grammar, summarizing, or paraphrasing on it — that's sent to our servers only when you actively request it. Separately, an inline suggestions feature can show a small badge in text fields as you type, offering grammar suggestions automatically. This feature is controlled by a toggle in the extension's popup: free accounts start with it on, Pro and ProMax accounts start with it off, and anyone, on any tier, can switch it on or off at any time — that choice is remembered and never silently overridden.
What we collect, and why
- Email address — collected strictly to create, manage, authenticate, and secure your account via Supabase if you register.
- Submitted text — text you submit for AI writing suggestions, summarizing, paraphrasing, translation, our AI Humanizer, and our AI chat assistant is transmitted securely to Anthropic's API to generate real-time results.
- Plagiarism and AI-detection scans — text you submit to our plagiarism and AI-detection checker is transmitted securely to Copyleaks, a specialized third-party detection provider, to generate results.
- Image generation prompts — text prompts you submit to our AI image generator are transmitted securely to OpenAI's API to generate results. Generated images are returned directly to you and are not stored on our servers beyond what's needed to deliver them.
- Saved projects — if you use our Projects feature to save a document for later, its content is stored on our servers under your account. You can delete a saved project at any time from within the Projects tool, which permanently removes its stored content.
- Inline suggestions while typing (extension only) — when enabled via the toggle described above, the extension reads the text in whatever field you have focused and sends it to our servers to generate grammar suggestions. Nothing is read unless this toggle is on, and turning it off retracts any suggestion currently showing immediately.
- Your account session (extension only) — if you sign in to the extension, your authentication session (an access token, a refresh token, and your email) is stored locally on your device via Chrome's storage API, so you stay signed in between uses.
- Local browser processing — your text is handled entirely in your browser when using the free word-counting tool and is never sent to our servers for that specific utility.
- Suggestion feedback — we track which AI suggestions you accept or reject to personalize and refine future results to your writing style.
- Billing information — financial data is collected and processed entirely by Stripe under their own standalone privacy policy. We never view or store your payment card details.
Who we share data with
- Supabase — user account authentication and cloud database architecture.
- Anthropic — processes text submissions for grammar suggestions, summarizing, paraphrasing, translation, humanizing, and AI chat, returning automated real-time results. Neither we nor Anthropic use your submitted text to train machine learning models.
- Copyleaks — processes text submitted to our plagiarism and AI-detection checker.
- OpenAI — processes text prompts submitted to our AI image generator. This is the only feature where a provider other than Anthropic sees your submitted text.
- Stripe — secure subscription payment processing and infrastructure.
- Google AdSense — may serve advertisements on free pages and use technical tracking cookies for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your Google account settings.
We do not sell any data, and we do not use it for advertising beyond the AdSense placements above.
Data retention
Text submitted for processing (grammar, summarizing, paraphrasing, translation, humanizing, chat, plagiarism/AI detection, image generation) is not retained once your result is returned. Saved Projects content is retained until you delete it. Account records (email, subscription status, and usage totals needed for billing) are retained for as long as your account is active.
Your choices and account deletion
You maintain full control over your data. You can request a copy of your personal data or ask us to completely delete your account at any time by reaching out through our contact page at abccount.com/report-bug.
Cookies and technical storage
We use essential cookies and local browser storage to keep you securely signed into your account and preserve your active session. Ad-related tracking or cookies, if present, are issued strictly by Google AdSense for advertisement delivery.
Children's privacy
ABCcount is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, track, or harvest personal data from children under 13 years of age. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, we will delete it immediately.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes meaningfully in the future, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page to reflect the revisions.
